My top beauty faves (for the time-crunched, semi-lazy, not-at-all fashionista)

Alright, listen.  When I say fancy things like ‘Beauty Faves’, it makes me sound like I actually have an idea what I am doing when it comes to my skin care or makeup routine.  What is actually the case is that I have been using the same moisturizer since high school, my amazing friend and hairstylist bought me my favorite Mirabella eyeliner and insisted I use it and I shamelessly grasp on to recommendations from my favorite beauty bloggers.

I spend most of my day in gym clothes and unwashed hair and when I do dress up, I wear the exact same shade of eyeshadow for every party because I’m too scared to branch out.

I own a curling iron and straightener, but they will probably last for 97 years because I never use them.  I take them on trips with me and then throw my hair up in a messy top knot and pray it looks classy.

So when I say these are my favorites, they are really products that are fool-proof, seamless, efficient, work triple-duty and actually function like they are supposed to.  Because I ain’t got time for fussy morning routines and products that don’t pull their weight.  I got coffee to drink and kids to drop off at preschool.

Clinique ‘Even Better Eyes’ Dark Circle Corrector  – Apparently, working from home with a 5 and 7-year old turns you into an exhausted version of your former self, complete with ridonkulous under eye circles.  In one of my bonus gifts from Clinique, I receive a sample of this corrector and it’s kinda magical.  The cooling tip breaks up puffiness and it instantly brightens skin tone.  The description says it visibly lightens circles in 12 weeks, but I saw a change immediately.  Definitely a must purchase.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion  – I’m not just using this because I don’t like change, I use it because it’s awesome.  It’s light and not at all greasy, but extremely moisturizing.  As far as quality brands go, this is a STEAL.  Nordstrom has also price matched several skin care kits that are an awesome deal.

If you have skin that tends to run on the oilier side, I had a friend recommend the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, with more of a lightweight formula than the lotion.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster  – So.  I’ve been using this for about a year now and it is GLORIOUS.  I add 1-2 drops each morning to my moisturizer and it gives me a fantastic glow AND it has slowly (and subtly) added a more permanent glow to my skin over the months.  When I used the St. Tropez self tanner before our Vegas trip last year, I realized that my body now actually matched my face.  The instructions recommend 3 drops, but I have found less to be sufficient.  I have used only three quarters of the bottle!

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30  – This was a new one for me this year.  But seriously.  Multiple skin care solutions in one product?! Word.  This fits perfectly into my lazy efficient morning routine.  CC cream color corrects, brightens dullness, gets rid of redness, even helps hide under eye circles.  I don’t wear any sort of foundation, so this is all I got.  It’s genius.  I feel like it’s literally instant correction.

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse – I just recently used this for our Las Vegas trip and it’s pretty amazing.  I am a ridiculous dunce when it comes to this kind of stuff, so the fact that I didn’t mess it up should be recommendation enough.  I bought the applicator mitt which I totally recommend.  I had no streaks, there was only a slight smell until I took a shower and my color was AMAZING for our trip.  If you are hesitant, buy the small bottle to try it out.  You will get 2 or 3 solid applications out of it.  Way cheaper than a spray tan and cheaper than I found it at Sephora!

Clinique High Impact Mascara  – Every time Clinique offers a free bonus gift, it comes with a small tube of this mascara and it’s now all I ever use.  It’s very simple (no fancy complicated wands), no fuss and great color.  Even without the price match, the price is awesome for a quality brand.  It’s great by itself (and I don’t curl nothin’), but I’m also dying to try this Clinique Lash Building Primer to go under the mascara.  Has anyone tried it?

Make sure and check out the entire price matched collection at Nordstrom.  You can sort by department and price. Just a reminder that Nordstrom always has free shipping, free returns and you can do price adjustments by chatting with a customer service rep online.

Thanks for this! Lash building primer sounds like too much effort for those of us on the run, but WOW does it make a difference. I received one once in a gift with purchase and do recommend it if you care about having long, thick looking lashes. I honestly only use for special events though.

I totally agree! I would definitely only use it when I am actually wearing makeup, as opposed to just throwing things at my face. Glad to know it works as well as I thought!
