My Kids Were Here: Rolling with the big boys

by Melody on April 2, 2013

Each week I will be sharing a different photo, something that throws me right back into the little moments of joy that my kids create.  Something that reminds me.  My kids were here.

We have two boys, 4 and almost 3, so we know our cars and our trucks and our vehicles of most kinds.  However, our 2-year old goes beyond just playing with cars and trucks.  He lives, breathes, dreams and never stops talking about things that roll.

Everywhere we drive, we talk about motor homes and UPS trucks and trucks with trailers and motorcycles.  Soon enough, he’s going to start pointing out the makes, models and years of cars.

When he drives around in his little coupe, he backs up like Dad.  He sticks his little arm out the side and peers around to make sure he’s not going to run into anything.  He moves the bar stools around in our house to make parking spots.

On Easter Sunday, I found him “parked” behind Dad’s truck.  Did he want to share a parking spot? Admire the tailgate?  Or just daydream about what’s to come?  I can picture what the teenage years in our house are going to be like.

Do your children have favorite obsessions toys?

If you have a photo you would like to share, go ahead and send the photo to me at beautifulfrugallife {at} gmail {dot} com with the subject title “My Kids Were Here”.  Please include a paragraph or two letting us know what the photo means to you or what moment it represents.

That photo made me nervous, hoping Dad wasn’t about to back up over your son, not seeing him.

Nope, the truck was parked.

My boys are obsessed too. They are 4 and 5. They’re starting to know the makes of cars….it’s amazing how much of this is just in them and their personality. We didn’t try and teach this to our kids, it’s something they wanted to learn.

Wow, I’m with Lee. My heart sank when I saw that photo given the children ran over behind cars in our area last year. You may want to put a big tall flag on his coupe to make sure 🙂

That is so cool that he is in love with things that go!

Okay, to clarify, if I must. We were all sitting outside watching him drive his car around and then the little car came inside for him to drive around. My husband never parks on the street, this was an exception. I can understand the concern, but there was nothing to worry about.
