My Kids Were Here.

by Melody on February 14, 2013

Each week I will be sharing a different photo, something that throws me right back into the little moments of joy that my kids create.  Something that reminds me.  My kids were here.

The first time I walked into what would become our new house, I almost cried when I saw the kitchen.  It was just about everything I could have ever dreamed.  Coming from a dark little kitchen where I felt separated from my family while I was cooking (which is all the time), this felt so light and airy and just included.

What I didn’t realize is how this little counter would become the hub of my family’s life.  I know people say that their lives center around their kitchen table, but I always assumed this wouldn’t come until my kids were older.  While I am cooking or cleaning in the kitchen, my kids are always up at the counter.  They work on puzzles, color, snack, play.  We eat dinner at the counter.  We try new recipes with each other.  We talk about our day.  We live our life at this counter.  If we ever move, I’m taking the counter with me.

Where does life center in your home?

If you have a photo you would like to share, go ahead and send the photo to me at beautifulfrugallife {at} gmail {dot} com with the subject title “My Kids Were Here”.  Please include a paragraph or two letting us know what the photo means to you or what moment it represents.
