I brake for holidays

by Melody on December 23, 2012

imagesLet me tell you about the month of December for me as a blogger.

From the day after Thanksgiving to about two days ago, my laptop and I were the best of friends.  We were never apart.  We saw each other in the early mornings, in the VERY late evenings, at Starbucks, during my kids’ nap time, during my husbands’ nap time, in my parents basement while they watched the Dudes.  I blogged in my pajamas, before the gym, after the gym, while my husband was at the gym, while the boys were at school, while friends helped me entertain the boys, in the car.

Sheer crazy madness.  Fun and very fulfilling crazy madness, but madness all the same.

Our weekends?  Filled with more blogging.  But also filled with baking, visits with Santa, trips to the tree farm, decorating the tree, having friends over for dinner, Christmas parties, kids’ parties.  We’ve had a wonderful holiday season, but it is always a little tempered with All. The. Things. I. Still. Have. To. Get. Done.

{Right? These are the kind of Santa pictures I am going to frame and enjoy forever. We don’t do all cute and normal.}

{More crazy amazing family pictures.  Oh wait, we have a second son, you say?  He was tearing the roof off the church after his brother’s preschool program.  Thank goodness for digital cameras.}

I am enormously blessed to have a job that allows me to stay home with my Dudes, but it can definitely be challenging to find the time during the day.  I do my best to not sacrifice time with the boys to be on the computer, but that also means super late nights and busy, busy mornings.

This is the reason why I am taking a break.  From now until a few days after Christmas, I won’t be on here much at all.  I’m going to bake and bake and bake.  Wrap presents, finish shopping, do some laundry, play with the Dudes, bake Santa cookies, maybe even make some Reindeer Food.  If the stars align and the moon is in the seventh house, I might even take a nap.  I’m going to work out with my husband, watch a few Christmas movies without a computer on my lap.  I may attempt to go to bed before 11.

Thank you all for such a wonderful holiday season.  It’s been more fun than I could imagine helping you scout out deals and celebrating the holidays in all of our online glory.  I wish you the best over the next week or so.  Merry Christmas.  Happy Hannukah.  Happy Tuesday.

And for your listening pleasure.  My husband is a YouTube fanatic and found this little gem.  All the Hansen boys have watched this video approximately 724 times over the last few weeks.  You can’t help but feel a little more jolly.

Merry Christmas, friends.

I’m so happy for you to take some time and celebrate the holidays with your family, you deserve it!
You are such an inspiration to me, I really enjoy reading your posts about what is happening in your day to day life without sugar coating any of it. Makes me feel a bit better of the chaos that is my life!
