Have you ever wondered what I actually look like? (Thank you Disa’s Photography!)

PicMonkey Collage

A little over a month ago, I started poking around on the blog to do some housekeeping.  I updated links, rearranged my navigation bar, fixed my About and Contact pages as the last ones had been written almost two years ago (yikes).  I realized I had very few pictures of myself and those I did have were with my husband or crammed in with my kids or hiding in the background.  I don’t know about you, but apparently when you have kids, you never make it in pictures. Ever.

When I read other blogs, I really like a few pictures of the author.  It’s nice to put a face to the writing, so my brain doesn’t have to obsess about creating a vision in my head of what the person looks like, which is always wrong.

My friend Disa has been building her local photography business and takes some fantastic pictures for our gym, so I asked her if she would be willing to take a few of me for the blog.  We met in the brutal heat days of August and did a mini-photo shoot and she was wonderful!  Very relaxed, very casual and got that business done because what you can’t tell from the pictures above is that my face was melting off.

Disa does weddings, senior photo shoots, engagements, newborn sessions and more.  She especially loves photographing horses and other animals and has some photos on her site that truly capture the love between a human and their sweet animal.  She is super reasonable, very flexible and willing to travel.

Even though looking at pictures of myself feels a little narcissistic and I couldn’t stop picking apart my hairstyle, makeup and outfit (mainly because I don’t know how to dress myself or do my hair), I’m really happy with how they turned out.  My favorite part is that she gave me a CD with the images and the release form to use and print as needed.

Check out Disa’s Photography website or follow her on Facebook for new updates.  She does a wonderful job!
