Donate locally to women/children of Haiti through Bethel Church

by Melody on April 25, 2011

Several of you have contacted me recently looking for ideas on where to donate some of your “couponing items”, specifically the free Tena pads we got a few weeks ago.  I am currently working with the local domestic violence shelter to coordinate a large donation, but in the meantime, I have a great option for you.

I have been emailing back and forth with reader Trina about a baby shower her church (Bethel in West Pasco) is doing for the women and children of Haiti.  It looks like everything they collect will be hand-delivered by missionaries to the Haiti area and they are looking for some specific items.  There are a few items on the list that we as couponers can get for really cheap!

  • Infant and children’s fever reducers (Tylenol, Advil or generic)
  • Prenatal vitamins or children’s vitamins
  • Infant formula
  • Sanitary napkins

These are other items they are looking for:

  • Cloth diapers
  • Baby carriers (especially sling-type)
  • Bras (nursing or regular)
  • Cloth grocery/tote bags
  • Diaper bags
  • Baby bottles
  • Baby clothes
  • Sack/pillow dresses for babies
  • Women’s underwear

Just from quickly looking around my house, I actually have several of these items available and I am SO glad to be able to give them where they will be most needed.

If you would like to donate some items, you can drop them off at the Bethel Church office in West Pasco on 5238 Outlet Drive (Broadmoor Outlet Mall).  Upon entering the mall, take the first right and go behind the stores.  Drive all the way around until you are facing the freeway and continue until the end of the building. The church office is in the back corner of the mall.

Hours are Monday and Friday 9 AM to noon and Tueday, Wednesday, Thursday 9 AM to 3 PM.  They said if there isn’t anyone there, you are okay to leave your donations at the door and they will get them when they return.

Trina also said she would be willing to pay your after-coupon price for the Pediacare and Little Fevers that was on sale last week at Rite Aid (around $1.40 with tax).  If you would be interested in that option, contact her at

I am so thrilled that Trina was willing to share all this information with me.  I know as couponers, we can sometimes end up with a few things that we may not need or use and to be able to get them to people who are in desperate need is such a win-win.  I hope you are able to help out!

If you have any questions, please leave a comment or contact me directly.  Between Trina and myself, hopefully we can get everything taken care of.
