Fall Favorites: Emilie’s Edition

Fall Favorites TBFL Oct13

Fall! My favorite season.  I love the routine and the weather when it’s sunny and the air is crisp. And the leaves, those amazing leaves! Well, except raking them up out of the yard. I hate that.  Except for those cute pictures when you are jumping in them. Wait, that’s not real, is it? My leaves are always wet and gross!

Anyway, back to my point… Melody and I were recently talking about all the things we love about fall and thought it would be fun to share some of our faves.  We’d love to hear what yours are as well.

Boots! Boots! Boots!

Boots

These are my current favorite boots. Don’t you love them? I wear them every single day in the fall, except when I wear my Toms, which is like every single day also.  My favorite place to buy boots is at Nordstrom. The Brass Plum selection has amazing styles at great prices, they even sort them for you here so you can just view boots under $100. It’s really hard to find more updated styles at lower-priced stores but I’ve found the B.P styles are in a similar price range to other stores. 6pm.com and DSW also have some super cute and affordable boots.

Kid Boots

These are my girl’s boots.  When I took this picture, it became very apparent that I have a boot problem.  For being two and four, they have an amazing boot collection.  Their boots are cuter than mine. I wish I was brave enough to sport toddler fashion. It’s just so darn adorable! I’ve scored most of them at the Gymboree $12.99 sale they run a few times a year.  Every single thing in the store goes to $12.99 or less. It makes outerwear and some shoes a steal.  They are currently running a $16.99 sale through Monday, October 14th. I’ve also found some great deals on boots for them at Zulily for $12 – $15.

Pumpkin Recipes

Pumpkin Recipes

It was super hard to narrow down my favorite pumpkin recipes because I pretty much like everything pumpkin. Costco is currently carrying pumpkin puree and it’s hard to beat the price! Here are a few of my fave pumpkin recipes:

Totally Together Planner

Totally Together

Since the Totally Together Planner: Shortcuts to an Organized Life by Stephanie O’Dea starts each new year in September, it is at the top of my new fall favorites. She has some amazing tips on how to “clean less, play more” and just generally get your life in order. I love her tips on getting ready for Christmas.  She suggests you start eight months ahead! I’m going to out myself here and let you know how type-A I am because that’s advice I can really get behind! If I followed her plan to a tee, I’d be stress-free all December.  Her weekly calendars start in September and I’m super excited to see how they help me stay organized this year.  You can check out Melody’s review here and mine here to get more information on this amazing planner.

Crockpot

CrockpotSpeaking of Stephanie O’Dea, did you know she is the amazing lady behind the Crockpot 365 blog? Please tell my husband I want her cookbook “Make it Fast, Cook it Slow” for Christmas. I also want a new toilet seat. My life is that exciting. My crockpot is also one of my fave things of fall. With all the running around, figuring out schedule and routines, the rain pouring on my grill and homework to help with (please just gouge my eyes out, it would be more pleasant), dinner feels impossible some days. The crockpot is the only thing that saves us from eating sandwiches for every meal. A few of my fave recipes are below. This Pinterest board has a bunch of the things I’m hoping to try in my beloved crockpot. Send me your favorite crockpot recipe, please!

Boot Liners

Boot Liners

I know I already mentioned boots so this is kind of the same thing but seriously, have you ever been on a pumpkin patch field trip in the pouring rain with the wind blowing 30 MPH? That is the story of every time I have ever been to the pumpkin patch. And, every year I wear my cute rain boots trying to protect myself from the mud while still looking like I have style, and my feet freeze. Like literally, my toes almost fall off.  And then I discovered boot liners.  Or, as I like to call them when I’m trying to be British, “Welly Socks”. They are sort of cute but really they are practical. Your toes will not freeze and fall off again!

They also make kid boot liners. Somebody brilliantly suggested to me last year that they could go in my kids rubber boots and I could get out of buying them new snow boots because it snows here 1.5 times a year.  That was so smart. Why didn’t I think of that?
