I was recently contacted by a fun company called Squooshi, who make reusable food pouches for kids. I don’t always agree to all product reviews and/or giveaways that come my way, as not all are a great fit for me, you the readers or my blog demographic. These pouches are a great fit on all accounts and fill a need that I haven’t seen addressed before.
We are a busy, busy family (aren’t we all?) with two toddler boys and it seems like we are on the go every day. I can’t count how many times I have had to pack lunch for the boys to eat in the car, at the park, at the store. On occasion, I will pick up a box of fruit pouches for emergency last-minute snacks, as they require minimal prep and are virtually no-mess. However, they can get spendy. The best price I have ever found is about $.50 per pouch, which can really add up, not to mention the waste they create.
Squooshi pouches are fun, refillable, more cost effective than single use food pouches, and reduce waste going into landfills. Squooshis are also easy to re-fill and clean, come in two handy sizes, and are BPA, Lead, PVC, and Phthalate Free, with a choke proof cap, and extra sturdy zip lock seal.
We received the Squooshi Variety Pack and immediately got to work. I filled the larger 4.5-ounce pouches with one of our random smoothie concoctions (this one was strawberries, fresh spinach, frozen pineapple core and banana).
The pouches were super simple to fill. They have a heavy zip lock closure on the bottom and we just used a spoon to fill ours. Our smoothies were perfect consistency, thin enough to easily squeeze out but thick enough that they didn’t run right out. I had to play around with how much we put in our pouches, but quickly figured out the right amount so they would still close. The zip lock is really sturdy and holds everything in, even with strong little hands going to town.
As for me?
I LOVE that these are so darn sturdy. They can be easily filled ahead of time and kept in the fridge for on-the-go snacks or for school lunches. They are dishwasher safe, but I chose to hand wash mine instead and they were super easy to clean.
The best part about these pouches is the price. You can snag a 4-pack of the large pouches for just $19.99 or $4.99 each. If you consider a really good price on reusable food pouches is about $.50 (most are even more), these will pay themselves off in just 10 uses per pouch. Ten! Plus, there is far less waste and you know exactly what is going in your kids’ bellies.

I love that these are so kid safe/friendly/strong–I anticipate that once baby boy gets a little older, he’ll be plenty tough on things

This looks perfect for baby food on the go for my 9 month old or applesauce/ smoothies for my 2 year old. So easy, and much cheaper than buying in the store.

My fave part of squooshi’s would be the design and the fact that they don’t leak!

I follow squooshi on Facebook and on twitter and I am making all of my own baby food. We are a super active family and are always out and about these would be perfect!!
I just purchased a set of large ones for my one year old twins and so far I love them! We have been filling with unsweetened applesauce and taking them with us to the gym for a quick snack. After an hour in the gym’s kid zone they are hungry and these are perfect!
I love that they are reusable. My son will only eat pureed foods and this is perfect to get him to try new things because he can’t see the color of what is inside! Also, it would be nice to not spend a small fortune on the deposable pouches. The zip lock bottom is a genius idea and I love that the caps can be reused as well. (Liked both on FB and following on Twitter.)

We switched to a clean, “whole” food diet at the beginning of the year an am always looking for great snack ideas for my kids’ lunches. I make homemade yogurt, applesauce and smoothies, all of which would work great in these pouches!

As a single mama who strives to give my son healthy real food – I try to make food the best I can when I can. Freezing them in small containers takes a lot of space in my freezer and squooshis would help keep things compact along with helping during times when we are on the go. We would definitely use them daily!
love your ideas!!!!
I’m following squooshi on fb now too. I love the idea and with 3 kids under age 6 they would come in handy. Specially for us frugal momma’s. I can’t stand how all the baby foods now come in these pouches and I have to throw them out. I loved reusing the glass jars around the house. Trying to find organic baby foods not in throw a way pouches is hard. So I could make my own and put it in these awesome pouches!!!! Super excited to try them!
We are expecting baby #2 in August. We LOVED making our own food the first time around, but these would make things even easier! AND our now 28 month old STILL loves to snack on pouches!!

I love knowing exactly what goes in my daughter’s belly. She LOVES the Happy Tot pouches, and I calculated that we spend about $100 a month on them. That’s WAY too much, but she only eats veggies in smoothie form! This would cut WAY down on our toddler food budget!
I have been following Squooshi on fb. I have a 2 month old grandson that I really want some of the pouches for. I’ve been trying various fruit and vegi smoothies and am ready for him to join me when he gets older. I just subscribed to the email follow ups.
Step 2: We are big fans of Squooshi in our house! I love that they’re reusable!
My youngest LOVES squeeze-pouches of baby food. These would be really handy for … well, everywhere, really.
I think she likes them best since she gets to feed herself. (When you’re one, you have to take what independence you can, right?)

Sorry, combined my comments… I need something like these to convince my older kids to eat homemade purees. They already love the big brand pouches.

I love that these are re-usable! I have spent a fortune on the ones you buy at the supermarket. They are so convenient, and baby is able to feed herself with it, just like her big sister! These will save me so much in the long run!
