My personal Winco shopping trip + weekly menu plan

I posted recently about a $10 off $50 purchase coupon valid at Winco Foods (you may have received one in the mail too), so I decided to head in and use my second coupon.  Winco has great prices every day, so adding $10 off made it definitely worth a trip.

One of my big goals for 2013 is to be much more diligent about weekly meal planning.  While it can be a little bit of work in the beginning, it is a HUGE time saver throughout the week.  We are so darn busy these days now that we are going to the gym in the afternoon, so dinner planning was taking a serious seat on the back burner.  We are participating in a Clean Eating Challenge with our gym this month and next, so the last minute options aren’t always viable.

Normally I shop after looking at the weekly ad at other stores and already know what the prices are, but this time I had to be a little more diligent.  For example, kale was a good price at $1.48 per bunch and can easily be added to any meal as part of the main dish or as a side.  Both broccoli and cauliflower were on my list, but were about three times as much per pound as Fred Meyer has them, so I will try to squeeze in another trip later in the week.

Everything in the picture above cost me about $57, including 3 12-packs of Cottonelle toilet paper (an absolute steal at $3.48 each!), huge bags of dates, raisins and dried apricots from the bulk section and 3 boxes of my favorite Good Earth tea.  And obviously, TONS of produce.

Here’s what on the menu for the week:

Main Dishes

:: Crockpot Pork Loin – For late afternoon gym day
:: Madagascar Chicken
:: Meatza – With kale, mushrooms and olives

Extras

:: Garlic Cauliflower “Mashed Potatoes”
:: Homemade Larabars – Trying a mint chocolate variety
:: Rustic Tomato and Garlic Salsa – To use as salad dressing
:: Homemade Banana Chips
:: Paleo Frappuccino – Who’s coming over?

I already made these Prosciutto Wrapped Mini Frittatas for my husband’s breakfast.  He goes to work super early, so he can just pop a few of these in the microwave.  Protein, healthy carbs and fat all rolled up into one quick little muffin.

I would love to hear what’s on your menu for the week? Share with us, do you try to do one big shopping trip each week or do you make several small trips?
