Giveaway: Organic Raw Canadian Honey from Tropical Traditions

by Melody on October 15, 2012

Tropical Traditions contacted me recently about reviewing another of their fabulous products.  I chose the Organic Canadian Raw Honey, as I’ve been really intrigued by the difference between conventional honey and raw honey.

Raw organic honey has not been heated above the temperature of the hive and has not been processed in any way.  It contains beneficial live yeasts and enzymes, which are usually removed in conventional honey due to high heat and processing.

From the Tropical Traditions website:

  • “In order for honey to be certified organic, the beehives must be placed in isolated areas miles from the dense population, industry, traffic congestion, and farm fields treated with chemicals and landfills. Second, a bee’s flying range is determined by their natural instinct which tells them to stay within their natural four mile range from the hive location. Finding area which can be certified organic is extremely difficult, which is why there are so few certified organic honeys on the market. Tropical Traditions sources its honey from hives in the wild frontier areas of Canada.”

I recently found an amazing local honey that we have fallen in love with, so I wanted to do a side by side comparison.  I also compared with a traditional clover honey from Costco.

The Costco honey and the local honey had a similar taste, although the Costco honey was almost cloyingly sweet.  The local honey had a very rich, sweet taste.  They were both very similar in texture.  The organic raw honey was amazing.  It had almost a gel-like consistency and a crystallized texture.  The taste is perfect, just slightly sweet but very rich and full.  I’m sold.

Tropical Traditions is America’s source for coconut oil. Their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is hand crafted in small batches by family producers, and it is the highest quality coconut oil they offer. You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their website: What is Virgin Coconut Oil?  Tropical Traditions also carries other varieties of affordable high quality coconut oil. Visit their website to check on current sales and to learn about the many uses of coconut oil.

What do I win?

Tropical Traditions is very generously giving away (1) 17.6 oz glass jar of Organic Canadian Raw Honey to one lucky reader!

Just found Tropical Traditions thru my daughter Irene, and since I am here in the Philippines have sent an email asking how and where I purchase their products here and now to find Organic Honey from Canada that’s a double bonus all in one hour. Would love to purchase your honey for the bakery I will be setting up here, but am afraid of shipping costs to the Philippines.

God Bless
