My husband and I are HUGE Mariners fans (sometimes to our own dismay) and we like to attend a few games each year. We would definitely head out to more if we lived closer, but gas prices have taken their toll. We did attend the home opener this year, which I’m attempting to turn into a tradition. 2 years running so far.
As we have been going for several years, we have honed our money-saving skills. While I know it’s not always easy to save money at the ballpark, especially when taking a large family, there are ways to cut back. I wrote a guest post for Thrifty NW Mom last year all about tips and tricks for saving money, including parking, tickets, concessions and more. I thought it was an applicable time of year to share the post again.
Now, I’m NOT saying we follow these steps to the letter. There are times when we eat at the ballpark (Have you had Safeco’s food?) and we generally pick up a $97 16-ounce beer. We do try to save in other areas to help make up these costs, we just don’t want to completely deprive ourselves since we only go a few times per year.
Click here to read the post. I’d love to hear your money saving tips for attending any sporting events, please share!

We live in Everett so we can park the car for Free and ride the sounder . we do this for Seahawks too. Also we have the Aqua Sox They are also a lot of fun to attend. And if you know any season ticket holders sometimes they will gladly share tickets when they go out of town. or sick ( I have pet sit or check then on things while they are away) We also do this for Silvertips hockey. snacks in the purse, Beer is full price.
I’ve always wanted to go to an Aqua Sox game, we love going to our minor league team because it’s so cheap and good entertainment.
I should have mentioned also that the few times we have been over this year, we have stayed in a hotel farther away from the ball park and we either take the bus (free during the week) or the Link Light Rail. Super easy and the hotels obviously get cheaper the farther away from the park you get.
