In the spirit of our loosely-written Christmas Bucket List, I thought I would share what we have been doing to celebrate the holiday season.
My husband has been off work all week, which has been such an amazing blessing. I’ve been able to blog a little more, get some things done around the house and just relax (which I truthfully don’t do very well). Don’t get me wrong, we’ve been busy getting ready for the holidays, but it definitely takes the edge off when you have a second set of hands home all day.
We have spent the week taking care of a few last minute gifts, wrapping presents when the kids are asleep, picking up a few more stocking stuffers, watching Christmas movies, baking cookies, watching my brother kick some you-know-what in his high school basketball games, going out to a crazy dinner at Olive Garden complete with Lightning McQueen taking a flying leap off the table and more breadsticks than I ever thought my boys could eat.
Inspired by Simply Frugal Mom, I thought I would share what we are making for our big Christmas Eve dinner.
- Maple-Glazed Pork Tenderloin from America’s Test Kitchen: Slow Cooker Revolution
- Perfect Potatoes au Gratin from The Pioneer Woman
- Honey Glazed Carrots
- Cranberry Bliss Bars for dessert
If you are a fan of the Cranberry Bliss Bars from Starbucks, I highly recommend making these. I made them last Christmas and they are AMAZING. Some of the reviewers mentioned using orange zest instead of lemon juice, but either way, these are a great addition to your holiday baking list.
Our little family will be having this Easy Potato and Bacon Breakfast Casserole on Christmas Eve morning. It’s pretty much become my go-to breakfast, it can be made ahead of time and is crazy delicious.
I hope you are enjoying your holidays as we wind down the last few days before Christmas!
