Since the beginning of the year, I have been giving you periodic updates on my fitness goals. For the first six months of the year, I used the 30-Day Shred workout video and it was fabulous. It was about 25 minutes so I could easily squeeze it into my busy schedule, but the workouts were so effective in that short period of time. You can read about my progress here or here.
At the end of May, I definitely started to notice this mysterious plateau that I’ve always heard other people talk about. I have never stuck with a fitness routine long enough to hit a plateau, so this was new. The workouts still seemed effective enough, but I definitely wasn’t feeling challenged.
My husband has been trying to convince me to try his P90X workout for months, but I always swore I didn’t have enough time (each video is around an hour). I knew I needed to try something different, so I tried a few of the videos and OH. MY. GOODNESS. I now knew for sure that I had hit that plateau with the Shred, as I was feeling this in every muscle in my body.
I decided to officially start the 90 day routine about five days ago. There are a few different versions and I chose the Lean over the Classic, which seems to focus more on cardio and weight loss than big ripply muscles.
I am really enjoying these workouts, even though I was so terrified to start. I am really grateful that I did the 30-Day Shred first, I think if I started P90X first I would have really struggled.
Does anyone have experience with P90X? I’d love to hear how you like it and what you found most effective.
