My friend Sarah and I cooked ALL DAY today, from about 10 AM to 4 PM. We were very well prepared and had babysitters, but things still took a little longer than expected. However, we both now have around 11-12 meals in the freezer to help make dinnertime a little less stressful for the month of July.
I had planned on posting a video to cook off our Freezer Cooking Day, but there was a Mac and an iPhone involved that I couldn’t quite figure out, so I finally gave up and posted on the Facebook wall instead. Click here to check it out.
I will be posting a final wrap-up of our cooking day in a few days. Although it was a lot of work, I am so thrilled with all that we accomplished!
If you would like to arrange your own cooking day, here are the links you will need to get organized:
I can’t wait to hear how all of you did. I hope you all had a successful cooking day!

Great job! And you actually DID it! It still sounds like a great idea to me, but didn’t get put into action this go-round.
So the actual cooking day took about 1/2 hour per meal (6 hours for 12 meals). That’s pretty good! I usually allow 1 hour in my late afternoon schedule to make dinner, so cutting it in half is nice!
Oh my gosh Trina, I never thought about it like that! When you factor in the time spent planning, it is probably closer to an hour per meal, but we avoid all that last minute, kids are cranky and whiny, rushed dinner hour.
Thanks for the perspective, I was exhausted afterwards, but so happy to have a full freezer!
I was finally was able to go and watch this video! I love it…and really makes me want to get doing my freezer cooking. I have done it in the past and I LOVE it but a year ago my deep freezer broke so I have been using just a normal fridge/freezer. And those Zaycon chicken sales pretty much have been taking over my little freezer space. But just this weekend I brought home a new deep freezer!! (woo hoo!) So I might start joining you this next time around. Thanks Melody for the inspiration.
