Rite Aid: Renpure not honoring mail-in rebate

This week, Rite Aid offered Renpure hair products for $4.99 with a $4.99 +UP Reward.  Several of the bottles had “Try me Free” hang tags on them that you could submit for a full mail-in rebate.

Through I Heart Rite Aid, I found this on Renpure’s Facebook page:

  • “Our Try Me Free Mail-In Rebate is not valid with the Rite Aid promotion running May 29th to June 4th. This promotion is considered another offer and our Try Me Free rebate is “Not Valid with any Other Offer”. Rite Aid is offering a sale price of $4.99 and you receive a $4.99 UP reward so you are already receiving this for free.”

While I don’t necessarily agree with this, as the +UP Reward is a store promotion and the rebate is honored by the company, I guess they do have the right to make this decision.

I’m still going to keep mine, as I technically got them “free” after +UP Reward.  I just wanted to give you all a heads up, in case you didn’t want to waste your time sending in for the rebate.  You could return them to Rite Aid, but I’m not 100% sure how they handle returns for items that generated +UP Rewards.

On a side note, I have NEVER had a rebate not honored by a company for something like this.  I have used store rewards and coupons to pay for items and the rebate has always been sent to me.  I will continue to submit for rebates as I think they are a great way to maximize savings and I get to try products I may not have otherwise.

Last year a number of people including me bought Stoppain at Riteaid. It had a SCR for the entire price so it was free. There was also a manufactures rebate. A coupon of months later we all received a a $2 coupon instead of the rebate with them stating that we already got it free so they sent us a coupon instead. I used it a few weeks ago on another Stoppain deal and made money this time. So apparently some companies keep track of when their product it free at some stores.

That’s such a bummer, especially when you were expecting the full amount. At least we still got our items for free (minus the tax), it just would be nice to have that information ahead of time. Thanks for sharing Sue!

I have had it happen several times at Walgreens. I have stopped doing their rebates because, in my experience, if you use RR to pay for the product initially they will not send you a rebate check. While I understand some companies do not want to “pay” customers twice, I think it’s pretty rotten for them to not make it very clear at the start of a promotion.

That’s a real shame. I really like the Renpure products, but I think they should honor their promotions. What you got from Rite Aid is between you and Rite Aid – shouldn’t have any effect on the offer from Renpure.
