After several Facebook chats with readers and gauging interest over the last few weeks, I have an idea.
I want to plan another Freezer Cooking Day (see details on my last Freezer Cooking Day here). I want to include you all every step of the way.
Starting around the beginning of June, I would like to post weekly updates on the planning process, leading up to the big day sometime at the end of June or beginning of July.
Week one: Ideas on setting up your day and menu
Week two: Ingredient list and prep list
Week three: Cooking schedule
Week four: Final updates
Or something along those lines and time frame.
The point is.. I know several of you have expressed interest in freezer cooking and would love to learn how to utilize it to save money AND time, but just aren’t sure where to start. By posting each week with steps on how to prepare and get organized, we can all (hopefully) be on the same page and it will be easier to follow along.
Of course, we don’t all have to be locked in to the same date (can you imagine trying to coordinate all of our schedules?), but each person plan a day within a week or so that works for them.
Rest assured, I am NOT an expert on freezer cooking so the planning and menu ideas won’t be complex. We’ll keep it really simple and easy to follow along.
What are your thoughts? Are you interested in joining along? Leave a comment if you have any suggestions or things you would like to see me incorporate.

I am very interested!
I’m in and will be organizing my meals around ground beef. I have a steer in the deep freezer from last fall that I am still working on.
Any help with ground beef freezer meals would be appreciated!
I’m picking up some ground beef from my parents this weekend, no problem!
I think this is a great idea and I’m definitely interested! I have a ton of chicken, so I’d love to see chicken-based ideas. thanks!
Yes!!! I have bought 1 or 2 books on the topic of cooking in bulk and freezing it for later … and haven’t really read or implemented either! I don’t really love to cook, but we need to eat so … I do it. I would definitely love to use this to save time and have some pre-prepared meals ready for busy nights. And summer is a good time to take on a new thing like this, since our regularly scheduled activities are all winding down at the end of May!
Interested too!
I would LOVE to follow along!! That would be amazing!!! Thanks so much !!!
I’m interested and would love to follow along.
Did some freezer meals during my last pregnancy, worked out great!
I love freezer cooking, I did when my last two children were born and did not have to cook for about 1 month. They are great in a pinch! My families favorite recipe is a Turkey & Cheese Braid. 1 loaf of Rhodes Bread Dough, 1/4 cup of butter, 1 envelope of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix, 3/4 lb of thin sliced turkey, 1 1/2 cup of cheese, 1 tsp of poppy seeds. Roll out dough into rectangle, spread half of ranch and butter mix onto dough, layer the meat and cheese down center, use pizza cuter to cut strips in edges, criss cross and braid up, brush with reamining butter mix and top with seeds. Wrap in syran wrap and foil freeze. Place in fridge the morning you want it; unwrap and let sit out on cookie sheet 30 min before baking, bake at 350 x 30 min. Great with a salad.
Rhodes comes in a pack of 3, so I always make 3 at a time, goes great with a salad!
This sounds delicious! Every time I read it I get hungry.

I’m interested too Melody! Thanks!
Please do this! I love soups, stews and anything Mexican! So those are my votes
thank you so much!
I am soooo excited for this!!! It would be great to see things that incorporate veggies that we find at the farmer’s market for cheap during those times!
Great idea! We pick up our first delivery from our CSA this week so will have lots of fresh produce. I have been known to substitute vegetables like crazy..
Awesome! I’m excited to learn what meals freeze well and how to do this! I dread making dinner most nights, and it would be SO nice to have some back up meals ready to go. I don’t think I’ll be doing it in June along with everyone (we have a baby due in a couple of weeks), but I will definitely do this later on in the summer (hopefully!). I’m excited! Thanks!!
I’m interested!
I am totally in for the haul. I have a few recipes that freeze well if you would like for me to share.
Definitely, I am always up for new ideas!

My mom always used to freeze stock in icecube trays then put the stock cubes into ziplock bags fro quick easy cooking liquid for rice and such.
I wish I had a deep freeze again so that I may participate. I used to always cook pasta meals in large qty’s and section out by one meal portions. Even one night off a week is a huge help to a busy household.
