Why you should help your friends learn how to coupon

by Melody on April 6, 2011

Because they will somehow manage to track down the last few boxes of Crispix in the entire Tri-Cities and generously share them with you.  Even drop them off at your house.

Thanks Cerise!

In all honesty, I truly think everyone needs a “coupon buddy”.  Either someone who already knows the ropes and can help you through all of it or someone to get started with.

These are the people who will get excited when you call to tell them how you made money buying some kind of colon cleanser.  These are the people who will actively listen to your detailed account of your 17 transactions at Rite Aid, after you have attempted to tell your husband and his eyes glazed over the minute you opened your mouth.

Do you have a coupon buddy?  Leave a comment and tell us why you love them!

My coupon buddy, Crystal, and I started together. We got so excited about it, and started the Tri-Cities Coupon Queens just so OTHER people would get excited with us about our deals!

And yay Cerise!!!

Janice and I started couponing January 9th last year when Emilie taught a class at our church. Thank you Emilie for showing us how to shop for free. :). Thank you Janice for helping me every week as we learn together. I never could have done it without them. :)

Melody your site has been so helpful too. I can just your deals cause I know our ethics are the same. Thank you for all your hardwork and those that help you.

Stephanie – That's the exact time the blog went live (I think Em and I planned it for that class). You've been growing as a couponer while I've been growing as a blogger. I'm so glad to have you and Janice as readers!

And Emilie of course.. She might have been the inspiration for the colon cleanser comment. :)

Hehe I think it was Emilie's comment about the colon cleanser at the class that gave me the guts to do some of my more outrageous transactions.

I'm super thankful for my couponing buddy Stephanie. She patiently works through the math with me when trying to figure out deals.

She generously prints me coupons and shares her extras. She empathizes with me over a checker who just didn't get it, and commiserates when a deal falls through (SO important when we first started).

She splits the big deals with me when the OOP is too high, or you need 8 coupons and we each have 4.

She helps keep me in check over 'iffy' deals and being too greedy. And she cheers me on when I get a great deal, even if she didn't get it.

My husband is super suportive of my couponing, and he listens to my ramblings, but he doesn't share the excitement the same way my couponing buddy does. Thanks Steph!

And thank you Melody!!

Ok, done gushing now. :)
